Stress is an intruder and it’s best to not let stress feel that welcome in our system. That would be like your least favorite person coming to your door, knocking, coming in, no matter what you say, forcing their way in and announcing a lengthy stay. Oh, and by the way they say, what time is breakfast, lunch and dinner served. I mean the nerve, right?
Here’s what must be in place to turn stress on its head in the moment. A meditation practice is great and it helps with these steps, but let’s be honest, we all need an “in the moment” thing…
- Be present and notice. Stress is almost always based on past programming, so the simple act of bringing yourself to the moment dissolves a lot of the stress right there
- Slow your breathing to signal to your body its safe, there is NO lion chasing you or robber attacking you.
- Drop your awareness low in your body to counter-balance the churning in your head
- Find and release tension in your body
- Connect with and invite the light from your Higher Self. DO NOT forget this part, it’s the part that rewires your brain for peace, calm, and trust and trains your brain to NOT default to stress instantly.
- The ‘extra step’: Praise yourself. Your mind/brain devolves w/stress and EVOLVES with praise. Be generous.
The key (the #1 secret to making this work)…ready… do it many times a day until stress is no longer the boss of you. Connected to your Higher Self…YOU call the shots, YOU take the reins. YOU be the one in control of yourself, not stress. You have everything you need to be a good leader of yourself. Praise is medicine.
Believe me when you’re connected to your Higher Wisdom/Intelligence also called your Source of Life, you are more powerful than any other form of energy on the planet, including stress (step #5).
Stress is an addiction and for many of us, we have to break the habit, and heal the addiction, which is a compulsive engagement. So the steps are simple, but not always easy. But living with regular stress is harder. Thank you for being you and tending to your Sacred Health. It matters.
