heart health month

I’m loving the perspective of 20/20 vision in 2020, it couldn’t be more timely in my view.

February is Heart Health and Heart Awareness month.  What exactly does that mean?

Well, it’s WAY more than Valentine’s Day that’s for sure.

It’s also WAY more than whether or not you have actual heart “symptoms”.  Don’t take this too personally, but everyone over the age of 10 has heart symptoms according to research.

I’ve learned some stunning things in my journey of writing a best-selling book on creating heart health. I’ll share a few with you here.

Some of the obvious facts and figures:

  • One person dies of heart disease every thirty-eight seconds in the US. It’s the leading cause of death globally. It is also the leading cause of death for women in the US, taking more female lives than all cancers (including breast cancer), accidents, respiratory illness, and Alzheimer’s combined.
  • That was jaw-dropping when I learned that. Stunning because it’s reversible. The research is exquisitely clear that reversing and preventing a heart event is possible. Regardless of family history, regardless of how far along your symptoms and markers may be. Regardless.
  • Having heart disease is costly. Direct and indirect costs of all cardiovascular diseases and stroke are estimated to total more than 329.7 billion dollars; that includes both health expenditures and lost productivity. Heart disease and heart attacks are two of the ten most expensive diseases treated in U.S. hospitals.

Enough with the facts and figures.

Here are some of the more nebulous or hazy things I’ve learned:

Even though a woman reads those kind of numbers, including her own blood test markers ticking upwards, she’s in denial that her heart needs tending

I have women tell me all the time that everything is “fine”. We are programmed to say that, yet “fine” is doing us no favors. Sure, there’s a line between spewing all our crazy crap on everyone who asks, but when sitting with a provider, or a close friend or family member, and things aren’t “fine”, we’ve got to get out of auto-pilot. “I’m fine” is auto-pilot.

Meanwhile, emotions held for years are tangled up in her heart center like a ball of yarn with knots.

I’m one who always considers both the bird-eye-view and the boots-on-the-ground view. It helps me make sense of Life.

Some of my birds-eye-view musings are that humanity is going through a big shift. Possibly involving bringing greater harmony and balance between the masculine and the feminine. However messy this process may be.

Possibly an evolutionary shift to whatever is beyond polarity. We’re seeing opposing poles in so many areas of life. Politics being one of the most dramatic and hard to miss.

Possibly becoming more internally empowered regarding our health, well-being, and capacities. A human being connected to their heart is very powerful. The motherboard of Life is contained in a human heart.

Every cell of our being is a microcosm of that motherboard, so there’s a LOT of freaking Intelligent Life Force coursing through our veins.

Possibly, although I suspect not high on the list (yet), a game-changing shift from fear to Love. Maybe you already know this, but the entire fabric of the Universe is Love. That’s a physics fact. Yet most are mired in the operating system of fear. Honestly, if we moved just this one thing to the top of the list, all else would fall into right order. We may not be there yet.

Fear has become all we know. It’s a deep groove, a strong habit, and definitely set to auto-pilot.  None of this is natural, meaning, it’s not our true nature. Yet it feels so normal, and is certainly, painfully common.

If a fear-based life is actually the opposite of our true nature, how do we get out of this mess? Well, that is where the heart comes in. While the head is all about tracking fear, the heart is capable of accessing Truth, trust, healing, and alchemizing fear, emotions, and pain into Love.

If there are forces on the planet who benefit greatly from a dis-empowered people, then the idea of masses of people discovering the treasure that lie in the heart is the most unnerving of all propositions on the planet. Seriously. Abuse of power turned on its head.

As I ask myself, “Why aren’t women ‘seeing’?”  Why don’t we ‘see’ the brainwashing, programming and spoon-fed, fear-based falsehoods?  Even as women have fought for ‘equality’ for centuries, how is it that the movement has been laborious, painful, and STILL falls below the mark of fair and balanced?

What if the ‘forces’ are keenly aware that if women were to tend her heart, rise up, speak truth, and stop abdicating power, it would be enough to awaken the greatest shift in human history?

What if that’s why information is confusing. Why distraction abounds. Why the over-arching constructs of medicine keep prevention and cures from people in general, women in particular.

Look over here! Now over there! They shout. This is bad, now it’s ok. Have you ever asked yourself what the objective of this confusion is?  I’ve been asking myself for decades, and I’ve been given eyes to see. For the record, I’m devoted to wholeness. However imperfect. Distractions be damned.

I posit that we’ve got to pay attention to a few things, this is the boots-on-the-ground part:

  1. Become conscious of auto-pilot and choose from the conscious intelligence beyond the patterns of habit. Your heart will show you how.
  2. Stop throwing our hands up as if it’s “too much”.  As if the problems are so numerous between our lives and the world that it’s all just “too much”, which lands us in “why bother”. Then of course, nothing can transform.
  3. We must let our hearts teach us the way. She knows the way I can guarantee you that. Our head on her own, absolutely does not know the way however hard she tries to convince you otherwise.

Our hearts are freaking brilliant, intelligent and wise. Do you think it’s any accident that all the emphasis is given to the mind? It’s not an accident. It’s a distraction from the heart. Don’t fall for it.

Give your heart permission to rise up. Rise up. Rise up. It’s not as scary as it seems. And we need you and your beautiful woven-by-love heart. Your life depends on her. Your longevity and quality of life depends on her. The world needs each and every heart. Put your head in the co-pilot seat, give your heart the reigns and take the journey.

Most women say things like:

  • I don’t know where to start, so they don’t start.
  • I’m already so busy, I can’t add anything more. So they don’t.
  • I’ll do it after __________fill in the blank. And they never get to it.
  • I’ve got all I can handle with my life already over-full. So they walk away.
  • I’d like so-and-so to join me, but they won’t, so I can’t.
  • Things are really good, so I don’t see any need to do anything different!

Things are not fine. Not when 25% of the women in the Western world are dropping dead taking their wisdom with them. There is nothing more important than this. The illusion of good is a trap. There is Life beyond the trap.

We were born for these times. You wouldn’t be here, in Life, if you weren’t made for these times. If you didn’t say, “Yes, I’ll do what it takes to unleash what is right and good in me!” We are here now for the purpose of evolving our heart as the most sacred altar in the Universe capable of participating in co-creating the divine design. If you’re not living that, then fine and good and later fall short.

Be willing to make the changes necessary, get the ingredients to your heart health recipe together. You have the rest of your life and there is no better devotion you could commit to. I’m not a fan of “fighting against” anything, I am a huge fan of rising above and standing for something different.

Join me this month for a buffet of ingredients that you can pick and choose from to bring together your unique and valuable recipe for a healthy heart.

Pass this along to everyone you know, the more who get on board, the faster we shift away from fear and chaos. The faster we co-create, from our heart, what we know we are capable of. We can’t do it alone, but we can do it together.

  1. Every moment is an opportunity to heal. In very small ways we can continually choose healing thoughts, actions, choices and nourishment. Bring in the flow of gratitude for our health and healing is a good place to start. I choose to recite the foundation of the Ho’Oponopono(Thank You, I love You, I Apologize, Please forgive Me) to myself, my highest vibration of self, my organs, and to the world. This is the foundation I choose to start from in this moment.
